FAN MOUNTED INSIDE OF WALL – VENTURI NOT PROTRUDING

Figure 1: Fan Mounted Inside of Wall – Venturi Not Protruding

  1. Cut and frame the wall opening approximately 4” to 6” smaller than the fan panel. The wall opening should be large enough to allow only the fan venturi to extend into the wall, but not beyond the outside of the wall.
  2. Mount the fan to the wall using the 4 holes provided in the corners of the fan panel.
  3. Frame the damper opening to the propeller diameter and mount the damper using the holes provided in the damper flange.

Note: Under normal conditions, it’s not necessary to install bird/insect screens or motorized dampers when using this method for installation.

FAN PANEL MOUNTED INSIDE OF WALL – VENTURI NOT PROTRUDING

Figure 2: Fan Panel Mounted Inside of Wall – Venturi Not Protruding

  1. Cut and frame the wall opening so the fan panel fits inside the opening.  The fan venturi should not extend beyond the outside of the wall.
  2. Mount the fan into framed opening with screws or bolts through the fan flange.
  3. Secure damper to framed opening with screws through the damper flange.

Note: When using this installation method, make sure an oversized damper is purchased large enough to cover the fan panel dimensions.

Example: A 24” exhaust fan has a panel size of 30” x 30” O.D.Therefore, use a 30” shutter to cover the opening.

FIGURE #3: FAN MOUNTED INSIDE MOUNTING BOX

Figure 3: Fan Mounted Inside Mounting Box

  1. Cut and frame the wall opening so the mounting box will fit into the wall opening.
  2. Mount assembly into opening, as shown, and secure and support as needed.

Note: This method is generally used when the fan venturi will protrude beyond the wall. The mounting box also provides correct spacing between the propeller and damper. The fan will mount in the rear of the mounting box and damper will mount on the front of the mounting box.
